The Maccabees, who recently celebrated their first ever UK number one album with the acclaimed ‘Marks To Prove It’, release their epic new single, ‘Spit It Out’ November 4th on Fiction Records.
One of Marks To Prove It's stand out tracks, ‘Spit It Out’ is sonically one of The Maccabees most ambitious songs to date. Already a firm live favourite, the track begins with just Orlando Weeks’ vocal backed by piano before building to a thrilling climax of crashing guitars, drums and the central refrain ‘What Are We Doing Now’ sung over and over.
It’s been a busy few weeks for the band with the announcement of their involvement in a feature length documentary called ‘Elephant Days’. The film was commissioned by The Maccabees and Fiction Records, directed by James Caddick and James Cronin and weaves together six day-to-day stories from Elephant and Castle, including the band writing and recording their latest album in their own studio. The film will have its global premiere as part of the prestigious BFI London Film festival on October 12th.
Off the back of some sensational shows already this year, including stellar festival sets at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, a homecoming album launch show at Elephant & Castle’s Coronet (which the Independent gave 5*) and a secret show at The Great Escape - both of which had fans queuing around the block - the band head out on their own headline tour this winter which includes two Albert Hall shows in Manchester and three Brixton Academy shows all in January.
