Quickly building on the news that his self-titled debut album will be released on April 5th, TEN TONNES continues to build anticipation by sharing the brand new track ‘Better Than Me’.

Contrasting dark, tongue-in-cheek lyrics with uplifting energy and an immediately insistent hook, ‘Better Than Me’ adds another dimension to TEN TONNES’ growing catalogue of modern indie anthems. One of the last songs to be written (with former Kaiser Chief Nick Hodgson) for the album, TEN TONNES recorded the track with producer Dan Grech (Wolf Alice, The Killers, Liam Gallagher).

TEN TONNES – AKA Ethan Barnett – explains:

“This was written in one of the last sessions for the record and it’s one of my absolute favourites. It was really fun to write and it came together really quickly. When we got to recording it I played all the instruments (excluding drums) as this is how I always used to make my records. It was lovely getting back to that way of recording and piecing the track together. I’m chuffed with the outcome, I can’t wait to get out and play it live everywhere”.

‘Better Than Me’ features on TEN TONNES’ self-titled debut album which is now available to pre-order from http://tentonnes.com/. It finds TEN TONNES exploring “the highs, the lows and the in-betweens of love and relationships” throughout a contemporary collection of sharp-witted rock ‘n’ roll anthems.

While TEN TONNES plays with self-deprecating and unlucky-in-love experiences on the likes of ‘Better Than Me’ and ‘Born To Lose’, the album also explores the relatable emotions of a young man who’s eager to experience life outside of his hometown.

In addition to Dan Grech, TEN TONNES collaborated with producer Hugo White, while some songs also feature White’s former Maccabees bandmates Rupert Shepherd (bass) and Sam Doyle (drums). The album also features co-writes with Crispin Hunt (Florence + The Machine, Jake Bugg, Lana Del Rey) and Luke Potashnick (Charlie Puth, James Blunt).

TEN TONNES has earned major support from all quarters of the media. Radio support has included Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and Jack Saunders at Radio 1, plus Jo Whiley at Radio 2 and John Kennedy at Radio X.

His current European tour with his brother George Ezra completes a year of major touring. He’s already played packed arenas with Stereophonics, instigated chaotic scenes with Rat Boy and won over crowds when touring with Tom Grennan. TEN TONNES will then start 2019 with a headline tour which culminates in his biggest show to date at London’s Scala.
