THE FEAR THE HATE
Following two sought-after limited edition releases and recent single Protocol, Society have announced the release of new single 'The Fear The Hate,' via Luv Luv Luv Records.
"Sleek, beckoning and ridiculously impressive – sonically awesome layering of vocals and weeping melodies that feels like a collision of past, present and future” - The Line Of Best Fit
“Epic, widescreen melodrama” - Sunday Times Culture

Despite an initial veil of enigma, Society was revealed to be 24-year-old singer Jamie Girdler as the voice behind the name and legendary producer Brendan Lynch as the sound. The duo's off-kilter, suspense-filled sound has amassed a diverse list of comparisons, from the brooding likes of Portishead and The Verve to Lee Hazlewood, Serge Gainsbourg and hip hop beatsmith J. Dilla.
New single The Fear The Hate is yearning, psychedelic soul that opens with a 70s inspired beat that is comfortably upbeat yet eerily disconcerting, before building into a climatic and distorted chorus.
“I had a Sergio Leone soundtrack in my head when we were working on the track but Brendan was on a completely different trip! But that’s what makes it interesting and why it works – a lot of what we do is chance”, says Girdler.
Society are currently putting the finishing touches to their debut album, which will be released early next year.
Live, Society are exciting, ardent and all encompassing and with three sold out London shows to date, further live shows will be announced soon.
