Martin Luke Brown
New Single 'Scars On Scars' Out Now
Following support for his self-released debut ‘Nostalgia’ and his Parlophone debut EP ‘Take Out Of Me’ from Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Dean Jackson and XFM, 22-year-old singer-songwriter Martin Luke Brown is set to release a new track titled ‘Scars on Scars’ on July 6th.
Produced by Utters (Drake, Maverick Sabre), the rootsy and gospel-tinged ‘Scars on Scars’ reflects Martin’s love of classic Motown and Paolo Nutini as his gritty vocal delivery exudes passion and soul. The song also captures Martin’s innate ability to craft emotionally raw lyrical themes.
“It’s about self-inflicted pain from making bad decisions,” said Martin, “but more so about making the most of those decisions and learning from them. I guess it seems kind of dark but it’s got positive intentions. I try to give everything a hint of optimism.”
A self-taught multi-instrumentalist who has been writing music since his early teens, Martin Luke Brown came to London to study music but soon earned attention from the wider world for ‘Nostalgia’. Blessed with a voice that’s equally adept at delivering soaring soulful power and a folk-infused falsetto, he has recently been tipped for success by The Sun, Wonderland, Rollacoaster and TMRW Magazine.
Martin’s recent shows have seen him play London’s Scala and Nottingham’s Rock City supporting Indiana as well as the Dot To Dot Festival and Barn on the Farm with his new band. His upcoming touring schedule features select headline dates alongside further festival including Y Not and Boardmasters.
