Violet City
New Single Out Now.
Sydney-based, Grammy nominated trio Mansionair return with new single ‘Violet City’, released via Glassnote Records. ‘Violet City’ is a powerful and poignant song driven by a propulsive electronic bass, buoyant drums and lead singer Jack Froggatt’s note perfect falsetto.
‘Violet City’ is reminiscent of left-of-centre UK acts such as Wild Beasts and Alt-J, blurring the lines between electronic stylings and traditional pop structures but with added cinematic and expansive production. ‘Violet City’ adds to this winning formula, boasting a transcendent chorus, with sweeping eastern style strings overlaid onto the propulsive electronics.
Mansionair was born when multi-instrumentalist & producer Lachlan Bostock joined with folk singer Jack Froggatt and jazz drummer Alex Nicholls to collaborate on ‘Hold Me Down’ - the chemistry between the trio was instant and ‘Hold Me Down’ hit one million views in just two months.
At the tail end of 2016, Mansionair released bristling track ‘Easier’, which has now reached over 12 million streams, a testament to the fan-base they’ve created in such a short period of time. While working on their latest offering, the band collaborated with Seattle duo ODESZA on their lead single ‘Line Of Sight’, which has since climbed Billboard’s Alternative and Dance/Electronic charts and was nominated for a Grammy. On most recent single ‘Astronaut’ (Something About Your Love), Mansionair have broken through onto US Alternative Charts.
Following support tours with London Grammar, CHVRCHΞS and alt-J the band announce a headline date at London’s Moth Club, 16th May as well as a performance at The Great Escape festival.
