HYENA and PIANO WIRE are teaming up for a super limited split 7” and a co-headline tour.
Both bands have been heavily tipped for big things this year and this double threat tour is shaping up to be the last chance to see them both in a small venue.
Untied by leather jacket gutter rock and skyscraper choruses, the UK’s two hottest new rock acts both put in a lot of miles in 2015 and they are stepping it up a gear for Oh16.
There’s been a lack of meaty punky rock of late and swagger has been missing in action for way too long. But no longer. These are massive tunes to make you spill your beer and wreck your mates. The tour is as democratic as it is wild at heart too: the bands will be tossing coins to see who headlines each night.
Signed copies of a super limited 7” single, featuring Hyena’s Come Down To Hilo and Piano Wire’s Visions Of Disorder, will be available exclusively at the shows.

PIANO WIRE (@pianowireband / www.facebook.com/pianowireband) rose from the smouldering wreckage of Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster and released their debut record way back in the summer of 2015. The Genius Of The Crowd packed in 8 blistering songs into just over 20 minutes, thrilling and shaking from the off with I'll Kill You - 130 seconds of breathless escape. Leather jacket grooves and helpless, swaggering riffs fill out the record, calling to mind the giant choruses of QOTSA, Supergrass and Brainiac.
The band toured all summer long and their distinctive sharkmouth T shirts can be seen up and down the UK. A February tour will see Visions Of Disorder as their half a split 7” single with tourmates Hyena. March sees their next EP, led by a track produced with Gil “Pixies/Foos” Norto, paid for from tour profits from 2015.

HYENA (@bandhyena / www.facebook.com/hyenabanduk) were the surprise hit of Download and Reading & Leeds, became NME favourites and savaged rock radio. Now rising stars of the new UK rock generation Hyena have released a new video ‘Forget My Name’ online, capping a breakthrough twelve months for the hotly-tipped Telford snarl rockers.
After their set on the BBC Introducing Stage at R&L, footage of their performance of debut single ‘Mental Home’ – released in March on Stiff Records – was the most viewed clip on the BBC website, above footage of Metallica and Bring Me The Horizon. They drew a huge crowd at their Download set and plaudits galore from NME (lead Radar feature, 9/10 live review), The Guardian, Radio One, XFM and 6 Music, where Steve Lamacq gave them their first session, describing them as “ravenous”.
