FUNERAL SUITS
All Those Friendly People
Some things improve with age: Nick Cave, Apocalypse Now, Rafael Nadal, and 'Marquee Moon' to name a few. When Dublin's Funeral Suits first skimmed the elliptical heartache of 'All Those Friendly People' out across the ocean of sound at the end of 2011; little could they have known that the song would continue to skip into the hearts of new fans, on a daily, global basis. Pinging Voyager-like on an outbound journey to regions previously uncharted.
So it is that two years later we find 'All Those Friendly People' casually brushing past 4 million views on YouTube. To spend a little time on the comments page for the video is to disappear into a wormhole of theory, counter-theory, understanding, bafflement and PLEASE COME TO MEXICO. Passions brimming to Twilight levels of intensity; there are coteries of teenage girls in the Midwest who would literally kill you if you spoke ill of it.
Put simply: 'All Those Friendly People' is an idea whose time has come. Exclusively premiered at the Chromatics' Dublin gig in summer 2013, Nat Walker's remix magnifies the original to Collosseum sized heart and ambition. As Nat's mix was laying waste to Dublin, Derry's Japanese Popstars unleashed their devilish breakbeat brood on the good people of Seoul; with ensuing dancefloor carnage.
The release of 'All Those Friendly People' will be supported by a new video from the band and a full European tour in early 2014. See funeralsuits.com for more details
