Catfish & The Bottlemen
Hourglass
New Single Released 22nd June. New Video Stars Ewan McGregor!
Band of the moment Catfish and the Bottlemen capture the laid-back spirit of summer with their infectious new single ‘Hourglass’ released June 22nd via Island/Communion.
2015 has seen Catfish and the Bottlemen burst on to the scene with debut album ‘The Balcony’ now Gold, shifting over 100,000 copies. Following a string of huge Radio 1, 6 Music and XFM playlisted singles: ‘Homesick’, ‘Kathleen’ and ‘Cocoon’, Catfish and the Bottlemen stormed stages up and down the land on their latest sold out tour, which culminated in two epic shows at the Shepherds Bush Empire. The band have been touring the US non-stop where it is bubbling under and return to these shores for a full UK tour in November, including two shows at the Brixton Academy which sold out in ten minutes.
The accompanying video to ‘Hourglass’ stars Ewan McGregor and came about after frontman Van McCann refused to take no for an answer in his quest to meet his hero. After cutting the original lyric video to Kathleen using Ewan Mcgregor film clips, he bombarded Ewan with tweets and even produced a ‘10 Reasons Why I Love Ewan McGregor’ video for Transmitter. Once the boys added Ewan’s face to their drum skin and toured with it, Ewan eventually relented and took them out for breakfast in New York. He’s since seen them live, jammed with them, and now taken the starring role in their brilliant new video.

‘Honestly working with Sir Ewan was one of the funnest things I think i'll ever get to do. He's the most interesting and interested guy i've ever met.’ Van says. ‘He's just fucking brilliant. Total gentleman! When people tell you not to meet the people you look up to, FUCK THATTTTTTTTT! He genuinely buzzes off the band. Sends me photos of him listening to us before he walks onstage on his endless run of sold out broadway. AND HE LIKES MY LYRICS! Honestly, I love him. It all makes me laugh my head off! His daughter Clara is a class A photographer as well! The artwork for the single is a photo of me and Ewan that she took! Videos for us are hard as we've got Austen Powers heads but this was just fucking class craic!
